MICHAEL SCHUMACHER WILL host a party at this weekend’s Belgian Grand Prix to celebrate the 20th anniversary of his Formula 1 debut.
The German – now racing with the Mercedes team after three years in retirement – first appeared in a Jordan car at the Belgian Grand Prix at Spa in 1991.
While a clutch failure led to an early retirement, just a fortnight later he was driving for the Benetton team and starting on the road to seven world titles.
Schumacher returns to Belgium this week, and told Cologne newspaper Express: “It will be a special moment for me. I will invite the whole paddock for a drink on Saturday evening.”
Just as long as nobody drives home afterwards…
