LIVERPOOL MANAGER BRENDAN RODGERS is set to hand teenage sensation Raheem Sterling his first Premier League start against Manchester City at Anfield on Sunday.
The 17-year-old winger put in an excellent performance in Thursday’s Europa League victory over Hearts at Tynecastle, and Rodgers has been convinced that the teenager has what it takes to play against the Premier League champions.
Should he start, Sterling will become the third youngest Liverpool player in history to begin a league match after Michael Owen and Jack Robinson.
The former QPR player made his name with some captivating displays for the Liverpool reserves last season.
He was eventually brought into the first team fold by former boss Kenny Dalglish and made his debut as a substitute against Wigan in March.
