THE ULSTER COUNCIL will meet this evening to begin its “swift” investigation into the racism allegations that cast a shadow over the Ulster Club SFC final.
The province’s Competitions Control Committee (CCC) is expected to appoint a small panel to look into the claims made by Aaron Cunningham of Crossmaglen Rangers.
Cunnigham says that he was racially abused by two opponents during Sunday’s win over Kilcoo of Down.
“We’re going to establish a small group to investigate what has happened as per our rules and our inquiry will be swift,” Ulster Council president Aogan Ó Fearghail told RTÉ yesterday.
“The matter will be pursued, I can assure you of that, because the GAA at all levels is anti-sectarian, anti-racist and we would have no time for anything like that in our Association.
“We certainly will not be letting it drop. The club have indicated to us that they want the matter investigated and it will be.”
In a statement, Kilcoo said that will co-operate fully with any investigation.
