Second-half fightback sees Ulster beaten in Glasgow

Six Nations star Stuart Hogg was influential again, as the Irish side lost out.

THERE WAS DISAPPOINTMENT tonight for Ulster, as they were beaten 27-17 by Glasgow Warriors in the Pro12.

The Irish side had an encouraging first half at Scotstoun Stadium, as an Iain Henderson try helped them earn a 10-9 lead at the break.

However, the Scots improved after half-time, despite a Stuart McCloskey try putting the visitors 17-9 ahead early on.

Tries from man-of-the-match Stuart Hogg and Tommy Seymour ultimately earned the hosts a 10-point win, as the former also denied Ulster a losing bonus point with a kick from the halfway line on the brink of full-time.

Ulster had capitalised in the opening stages of the game, after Hogg was sin-binned in the second minute for coming in from the side, with the Irish team claiming a 7-0 lead shortly thereafter.

The game remained closely fought after its action-packed opening, with Ulster edging the encounter at outset of the second half. However, Glasgow responded impressively after finding themselves trailing by eight points on the hour mark. Following Hogg’s opportunistic kick-and-chase try, Seymour latched on to Finn Russell’s crossfield kick to complete the turnaround.

Russell and Hogg added further points from the boot to make the game safe, as Glasgow earned their fifth consecutive Pro12 win.
