Gymnast Eilis O’Reilly is in action, our equestrian team competes again, there’s plenty of interest in the lightweight double sculls heats, our first boxers take to the Rio ring, Fiona Doyle and Shane Ryan are in the pool while the Irish hockey team play another first-round game tonight.

There’s about an hour to go until Eilis O’Reilly is in action and we’ll bring you all the info as soon as she gets underway.

Meanwhile…

We know how difficult the weather conditions were for Ireland’s Sanita Puspure on Day 1 so we can only presume this delay is weather-related.

This is likely to mean Sinead Jennings and Claire Lambe and brothers Gary and Paul O’Donovan will compete in the lightweight double sculls heats for men and women at about 4pm and 4.30pm respectively.

We’ll keep you up to speed if there are any changes.

Some history being made here as the 18-year-old becomes the first female to represent Ireland in gymnastics at an Olympics.

Deep breaths.

First up is her floor exercise.

Well, that was decent.

An opening score of 11.666 and though she would’ve wanted to creep over the 12.0 mark, it’s not a bad way to begin for the 18-year-old.

A couple of penalties but a nice foundation to build upon for her.

There were weather issues at the rowing yesterday and it’s a similar story today in Rio.

A two-hour delay because of choppy waters and that means Sinead Jennings and Claire Lambe & Paul and Gary O’Donovan will compete in the Women’s and Men’s lightweight double sculls at 5pm and 5.20pm Irish time respectively.

That’s really tidy from the 18-year-old.

Good technique and execution from her gives her a score of 13.266 to add to her 11.666 from the floor exercise.

Weather conditions show no sign of improving in Rio and officials have taken the decision to postpone today’s rowing events.

That means Sinead Jennings and Claire Lambe and Paul and Gary O’Donovan will have to wait to compete in the Women’s and Men’s lightweight double sculls.

We’ll let you know when a new date/time is scheduled.

It’s another clean routine from Eilis and she’s keeping her head well here.

It’s a score of 12.300 – a good result for her.

She seems to be having some difficulty with her hands and is carefully nursing them and dowsing them in chalk.

Oh, that’s rotten luck.

Just as she was approaching the finale of her beam routine, Eilis loses her balance on the landing and she’s inevitably disappointed. It was a nasty one too as she hits the ground awkwardly, but she walks away unscathed.

A score of 10.700 for her final apparatus.

The 18-year-old wasn’t expected to make it through though she will be disappointed, especially with her fall during the beam. Still, what an experience on her Olympic debut and plenty more to come from her, that’s for sure.

An overall score of 47.932 for Eilis and she can be very proud.

Our first boxer takes to the ring in Rio.

The 27-year-old will look to get us off to a decent start here against Algeria’s Zohir Kedache.

That looked pretty neat from Donnelly and he leads by 3 points after the first round.

Quick on his feet, he’s well on his way here.

It’s very comfortable.

That was excellent stuff from the 27-year-old from Ballymena and it was never in doubt. Quick feet, smart movement and good hits from Donnelly and he’s through to the next round.

Unanimous decision and that’s really impressive. He takes it 30-27 on points.

Ireland’s leading swimmer will be in lane one for heat 5 of the 100 metre breaststroke.

Controversial Russian, Yulia Efimova, will be in the same heat as Limerick woman Doyle, scheduled to go off the blocks at 18.03.

Fiona Doyle finish eighth in her 100m breastroke heat in Rio.

The Limerick woman came home in 1:07.58, almost two seconds off the Russian winner Yulia Efimova.

American-born, Irish swimmer Shane Ryan will take on the 100m backstroke at 18.17.

Ryan will be in lane one, for the third heat in the event.

Shane Ryan came home in fourth place and a time of 53.85 in his 100m backstroke heat.

Ryan was in second place after the first 50 metres,  but leader Jiayu XU only extended his advantage as Ryan was bumped down two places in the final length.

Get to a seat with a TV nearby.

Joyce will take on Seychelles fighter Andrique Allisop at 21.30 in the 60 kg round of 32.

Joyce has been in control in the first round of his 60kg bout against Andrique Allisop.

Allisop has suffered a cut above his eye after another good round from Joyce. One judge has the contest all square.

Joyce won all three rounds in impressive fashion against Allisop and set up a 60kg clash with world silver medallist Albert Selimov in the next round.

After defeat to India, the Boys in Green are back on the field in their bid to make the knockout stages.

It’s been a disappointing first half for the Boys in Green, compounded by a worrying injury for Conor Harte late in the half.

It’s not going to be the underdog’s day.

That’s the end of the road for Shane Ryan as he fails to qualify for tomorrow’s 100m backstroke final.

He finishes eighth in the first of the semi-finals, and 16th overall, in a time of 54.40 — 0.55 slower than the PB and national record he set in qualifying earlier today.

Not a bad day’s work by anybody’s standards.
