7. Bristol City: Flint Becomes a flyer

Bristol Flyers TV / YouTube

“Bristol City defender Aden Flint has put pen to paper on a landmark dual-contract deal with Bristol Flyers for the remainder of the 2015/16 campaign.

“The 26-year-old goes straight into the squad for tonight’s BBL match against league leaders Newcastle Eagles (7.30pm), before joining up with his City team-mates in Hull for tomorrow afternoon’s Sky Bet Championship encounter at the KC Stadium (3pm).

“Coach Andreas Kapoulas was alerted to Flint’s aerial attributes on a recent visit to Ashton Gate, when he scored twice in the 2-1 win over Ipswich Town.

“The 6ft 5in centre-back twice rose highest in the penalty area to score from set-pieces, and Coach K – who was attending the game as a guest of Bristol Sport – has since been thrashing out the dual-contract deal with his City counterpart Lee Johnson.

“Flint told Bristol Flyers TV: “I was sat at home one night and just got a call out of the blue from Coach K asking me if I fancied joining the Flyers.

“I was always playing basketball at school and I’m really talented, so I’m not sure why I haven’t been picked up before. I’m a defender for Bristol City and hopefully I can defend just as well for the Flyers, as well as chipping in with some points too.”

9. Leinster Rugby

“Doubt has been cast on the availability of a Leinster stalwart ahead of tomorrow’s big Guinness Pro12 match at Aviva Stadium.

“With over 40,000 supporters set to cheer on Leinster in the derby match against Munster, the province may be without it’s great cheerleader as Leo the Lion has reportedly suffered a injury during the week.

“Speaking ahead of the game, Leo the Lion said: “Preparations for Leinster v Munster have been underway for quite some time and we’re really looking forward to putting on a great show for people. Unfortunately, it looks like I pushed myself too hard in the gym this week and aggravated an old knee injury I picked up lining out for Leinster in Donnybrook back in 1999.”
