Brian McGuire saddles up and leaves Kerry panel for equine job in Kentucky

After three years with the Kerry senior footballers the defender has emigrated to America.

KERRY HAVE LOST defender Brian McGuire for the 2014 championship — after he revealed he will be emigrating to America.

The Listowel man is leaving to take up an employment offer in the equine industry in Kentucky. McGuire had featured in the first three of Kerry’s National Football League games this year, starting the first two at centre-half back.

The Listowel Emmets club man made his league debut in 2011 against Galway, and his championship debut a year later against Westmeath. After an impressive underage career, McGuire made five senior championship appearances; winning two Munster championships.

The 24 year-old had recently completed a Masters degree in Business Management in the University of Limerick and had previously worked in the equine industry in Ireland.

He now joins the injured Colm Cooper and Kieran Donaghy, in becoming long-term absentees from Eamon Fitzmaurice’s panel.
