The 32-year-old joined the Premiership club on loan from Bristol last week and after making his debut in Saturday’s win over London Irish, has been added to the Tigers’ 41-man European squad, replacing Joseph Maksymiw who has been de-registered.

Tuohy, capped 11 times by Ireland, will be on the books at Welford Road until 31 December and is now available for selection for Leicester’s opening pool game against Racing 92 on Saturday.

The Bristol native moved back to England at the start of last season after spending seven years at Ulster and was brought in by Tigers head coach Matt O’Connor as injury cover in the second row department.

Leicester face Racing this weekend before welcoming Castres to Welford Road for their second Pool 4 clash on 21 October. The two-time European Cup winners then go head-to-head with Munster in back-to-back games in December.

Meanwhile, former Munster flanker Sean Dougall is a late addition to Pau’s squad for their Challenge Cup campaign, which gets underway on Thursday against Gloucester.

The 27-year-old, who represented Ireland at U18 and U19 level, is in his third season with the Top 14 club after signing a new two-year contract extension in May.

He replaces Baptiste Pesenti in Pau’s panel ahead of pool games against Gloucester, Agen and Zebre.

All Champions Cup and Challenge Cup teams submitted their squads for the pool stages two weeks ago but under EPCR rules permit are allowed to make three swaps (one front row and two others) before the knock-out phases begin.
