Open thread and poll: Will it be McGregor or Diaz in tonight’s UFC 196 main event?

CONOR McGREGOR WILL aim for the 20th win of his professional career, his 16th in succession and the eighth since he joined the UFC when he takes on Nate Diaz tonight at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.

However, should he manage it, there’ll something quite different about a victory in the UFC 196 main event. Having only competed as a featherweight in the UFC until now, McGregor is making a 25lbs jump up to welterweight to face the former lightweight title challenger.

McGregor was due to become a challenger for the lightweight belt himself tonight but a foot injury sustained by champion Rafael dos Anjos resulted in Diaz being drafted in last week as a replacement opponent.
