father son bond

We know Tom is his son, but Paul Ince's opinion on his ability is still completely daft

Is Tom Ince a decent prospect? Yes. Is he going to turn into Gareth Bale? Maybe not.

PAUL INCE REALLY views his son through a father’s eyes. Tom Ince reportedly turned down a move to Inter Milan last summer in favour of Hull and Premier League football but it hasn’t turned out well for the midfielder.

Ince made just seven appearances for Hull this season while spending loan spells with Nottingham Forest and Derby County in the Championship. He actually played quite well for Steve McClaren’s side, scoring 11 goals in 17 appearances as their playoff bid came up just short.

That little spell must be what his dad has based his latest comments on… but he is still reaching quite a bit.

“I’m disappointed in Hull as, in every game he’s played, he’s done well,” Paul Ince told The Times.

“Instead of playing, he’s sitting in my house at 3pm on a Saturday afternoon when his team are playing, which can’t be right. I’ve not spoken to [Hull boss Steve Bruce] yet but will be speaking to him very soon. If you allow Thomas to express himself, you’ll get rewards, as they’ve seen at Derby. He’s still got a bit to do; he’s a little bit weak and will be a late developer. I remember looking at Bale and he was a little bit skinny but, the next year, he bulked up and was outstanding. That’s where Thomas is going to be next year.”

Ince didn’t flat out say that his son would be the next Gareth Bale but by making the link between bulking up and Bale’s improvement, he is heavily implying that he thinks his son can be similarly effective.

Is Papa Ince right or is he being blinded by love for his son?
