Robert Lewandowski has just scored five goals in less than 10 minutes against Wolfsburg

Yes, you read that correctly.

THIS WAS ORIGINALLY meant to be a post about Manuel Neuer’s lucky escape after going wandering to the half-way line, but Robert Lewandowski has just changed everything.

The Polish striker was brought on at half time by Pep Guardiola with Bayern 1-0 down at home to Wolfsburg in the Bundesliga, and it proved to be a pretty inspired substitution.

Lewandowski equalised for Bayern on 51 minutes, scored his second on 52 minutes, his third on 55 minutes, his fourth on 57 minutes, and incredibly made it five on the hour mark, for a total of five goals in nine minutes.

His fifth was particularly special.

As you can expect, Pep Guardiola wasn’t sure what to make of it.

Manuel Neuer may need to buy him a pint after, because his mistake very nearly made it 2-0 down before the break.

A long ball from Diego Benaglio enticed Neuer to fly off his line to cut out the danger but his heavy touch took him up to the half-way line, when he mistimed his slide tackle.

Josuha Guilavogui hit it first time, and it looked to be curling into the corner of the goal before clipping the post and going wide.

As it stands, Lewandowski’s goal drought now stands at almost 15 minutes. A penny for Martin O’Neill’s thoughts…
