Tipperary hurlers get two players back but lose two more to injury ahead of Waterford clash

The teams meet in Semple Stadium next Sunday afternoon.

THERE’S MIXED NEWS on the injury front for Tipperary senior hurling boss Michael Ryan before Sunday’s Allianz hurling league tie against Waterford.

The Tipperary manager can welcome back star forward Seamus Callanan, an Allstar winner for the past two years, and the versatile Kieran Bergin.

Both players have missed the opening two league ties which saw Tipperary win comfortably against Dublin before they were felled late on against Kilkenny, losing out after conceding two late goals.

But James Barry, who has started centre-back in Tipperary’s opening two games, is ruled out with a foot injury.

And Jason Forde is also sidelined after limping off with a hamstring injury in UL’s Fitzgibbon Cup final loss to Mary Immaculate College last Saturday.

Forde missed the Kilkenny game as he withdrew before throw-in due to illness but had impressed in the earlier game against Dublin as he bagged 1-5.

Throw-in on Sunday afternoon is 3pm in Semple Stadium.
