Aironi secure surprise victory over Munster

Deprived of their Six Nations contingent, the Irish side narrowly failed to overturn a 15-3 half-time deficit.

Aironi 21-17 Munster

MUNSTER ENDURED A shock loss to Aironi today, as they patently suffered in light of the absence of their Irish internationals.

Despite being bottom of the RaboDirect PRO12 league, Aironi stormed into a 15-3 half-time lead, with tries from Nicola Cattina and Gabriel Pizarro giving them a deserved advantage at the break.

Munster produced an improved second-half display, and were rewarded for their efforts with a penalty try, before Lifeimi Mafi crossed over to give them hope.

However, their response proved too little too late, as the Italian side held out for a shock win.
