LOI wrap: Drogheda keep up pressure on Sligo, UCD earn surprise win

Meanwhile, the game between Bray and Dundalk ended in a stalemate at the Carlisle Groudns this evening.

A GOAL FROM Declan O’Brien gave Drogheda a narrow 1-0 win against Bohemians at Hunky Dorys Park this evening.

O’Brien converted a spot kick on 36 minutes that would ultimately be enough to earn them a victory, after Roberto Lopes had impeded Gavin Brennan in the penalty area.

Meanwhile, UCD secured a welcome 2-1 win against Shelbourne at Tolka Park.

The Students took the lead just before half-time, courtesy of a powerful David McMillan shot, but Philip Hughes seemed to have secured his side a point, converting a David Cassidy cross from close range.

But a spectacular effort from Paul Corry won his side the game, three minutes from time, to boost their hopes of Airtricity League survival.

Finally, a late goal by David Webster ensured Dundalk would have to be content with a 1-1 draw against Bray Wanderers at the Carlisle Grounds tonight.

Gary Shanahan had put his side in the lead ten minutes after the half-time break, as he got on the end of a Mark Griffin cross.
