IN A TRANSFER that has probably been waiting to happen since two or three games into his erratic/shambolic/outrageously entertaining (delete according to opinion) Chelsea career, it seems that David Luiz is heading out the Stamford Bridge exit door.
His destination?
Catalunya.
Barcelona, perhaps hoping to prolong Carles Puyol’s career by a further six or seven years by buying a man with the same head, want Luiz to leave England and spurn the advances of Manchester City.
With Gary Cahill, Branislav Ivanovic and J**n T***y already in the Chelsea squad, it seems the comedy stylings of Sideshow Bob could be leaving the Premier League.

City, of course, never really wanted to sign Luiz in the first place, or that’s what the nice people of the Manchester Evening News would have you believe. No, City’s main target in an inordinately quiet summer is Athletic Bilbao defender/midfielder Javi Martinez.
The 23-year-old had been on the brink of moving to Bayern Munich but the German club’s sporting director Matthias Sammer admitted, on Wednesday, that that deal was nowhere near to being complete.
City are now ready to SWOOP IN and GAZUMP the Bundesliga side to bring in a player they don’t really need, given the fact that they SWOOPED IN for the similarly-styled Jack Rodwell last week.

The Evening Standard are reporting that Luka Modric may not be the only high profile, creative midfielder leaving Tottenham this summer.
The North London club are open to offers for Rafael van der Vaart, who has straddled that fine line between genius and anonymity for two years now.
Andre Villas Boas has already stated his interest in signing Brazilian Willian from Shakhtar Donetsk, but he could also rival Manchester United (who aren’t buying any more players, anyway) for Fulham star Moussa Dembele.
Dembele has a £15m buy-out clause in his contract that Daniel Levy and co. just might activate.

Chelsea have completed the signing of Spanish defender Cesar Azpilicueta from Marseille for a fee of £7m. The 22-year-old is a right-back, and his signing should finally see an end to those Paulo Ferreira cameos we had become so fond of.
