Done deal: Chavez-Andy Lee fight confirmed

A date for the match has yet to be announced, though June 16 has been earmarked according to reports.

A MUCH-ANTICIPATED fight between Irish boxer Andy Lee and WBC middleweight champion Julio Cesar Chavez Jr has been confirmed.

A tweet sent out by boxing promoter Lou DiBella indicated a deal had been arranged for the two fighters to meet. It read:

“Chavez-Lee done deal. Contracts being worked on 4 Martinez vs winner. Boxing & the fans win. JR in trouble in TX.”

Meanwhile, Lee subsequently confirmed this news, tweeting:

“That’s right y’all it’s on and poppin’ Thanks for all the messages of support, really appreciate it.”

Though a date for the fight has yet to be confirmed, previous reports indicated that June 16 had been provisionally earmarked for the event.
