An Irishman has just shattered the course record in 'Britain's most brutal race'

Eoin Keith took 15 hours off the previous best when he crossed the line this morning.

AFTER A HEART-BREAKING second place in the 2015 Montane Spine Race, known as ‘Britain’s most brutal race’, Irishman Eoin Keith went one better this morning and in some style too.

The Spine is described as a 268 mile (431km), non-stop, uncompromising winter challenge encompassing the entire Pennine Way and Keith crossed the finish line this morning in a provisional time of 95 hours, 43 minutes, just short of four days.

When confirmed, it will take over 15 hours off Pavel Paloncy’s — to whom Keith finished second last year — previous course record of 110 hours, 45 minutes set in 2014.

The reaction in the ultra-running community to Keith’s achievement was swift.
