SHAMROCK ROVERS GAVE an improved performance to beat Shelbourne 4-2 in the Leinster Senior Cup at Tolka Park this evening.
Stephen Kenny’s side secured a comprehensive 4-0 first-half lead, thanks to goals from Killian Brennan, Aaron Greene, Daryl Kavanagh and Chris Turner.
And while Shels subsequently hit back with two late goals from Philip Hughes and Philip Gorman, it turned out to be too little too late for the hosts.
Rovers’ performance was in stark contrast to the one given last Friday, when a largely different XI were beaten 4-0 by Bohemians.
