Happy days: Lawlor named Player of the Year

She was also named in the Team of the Year alongside three of her Peamount teammates.

PEAMOUNT’S SARA LAWLOR was named Bus Éireann Women’s National League Player of the Year at a ceremony in the Burlington Hotel today.

Lawlor also featured in the National League All Star Team, alongside three of her Peamount teammates.

The recognition comes after she scored a total of 15 goals this season, which helped Peamount win the league title.

In addition, Emma Hansberry of Castlebar Celtic was named Young Player of the Year having scored seven goals in her first year, while Brother Bernard Twomey was given the Services to Football Award for his role in helping to develop the women’s game in this country.

The season ends this weekend, with Shamrock Rovers taking on newly crowned champions Peamount in the Bus Eireann Women’s National League Cup Final at 2pm.
