Today’s one-day international in Clontarf has been rescheduled for tomorrow.

The first of two World Cricket League meetings between the countries was scheduled for a 10.45am start in Clontarf but with no let up in the heavy overnight rainfall, umpires took the decision to delay the opening ball.

The covers did come off during a mid-morning break in the downpour, giving fans gave hope that they might see some action, but the umpires were never fully happy with the state of the bowler’s run-up and continued to schedule inspections.

With no sign of a further break in the clouds, the match was postponed shortly after 3.30pm local time and rescheduled for tomorrow, a reserve day in advance of the second ODI which is due to take place on Thursday morning.
