IRELAND HAVE DROPPED to 40th in the latest FIFA World Rankings.
Giovanni Trapattoni’s side have fallen one place since their last result – a 2-0 win over Poland at the Aviva Stadium in February – and now sit just below Australia and Paraguay and above Panama and Peru.
World champions Spain are still top spot in an unchanged top six which also includes Argentina, England, Italy and Colombia. Northern Ireland, meanwhile are 97th having recently dropped out of the top 100, Scotland drop to 66th and Wales are also down three places to 72nd.
