India, here we come! Ireland have qualified for the Women's T20 Cricket World Cup

Ireland now face Bangladesh in the final of the World Cup Qualifier tournament on Saturday.

Ireland Women beat Scotland Women by nine wickets

IRELAND’S WOMEN BRUSHED Scotland aside to clinch qualification for next year’s T20 World Cup.

Lucy O’Reilly took three wickets for just 16 runs as Ireland eased to a nine-wicket win in Bangkok this morning.

Ireland will now face Bangladesh in the final of the World Cup Qualifier tournament on Saturday, but their place at next year’s finals in India is already guaranteed.

It will be the country’s second appearance at the T20 finals following on from their debut in 2014, where they lost all four of their group games.

Led by player of the match O’Reilly, Ireland held Scotland to 77/9 in their 20 overs at the TCG.

And their opening partnership made light work of that target as Claire Shillington scored 34 while Cecilia Joyce finished on 36 not out.

Ireland have won a bronze medal at the European Swimming Championships
