THE WORLD’S MEDIA has descended on Arizona this week for the glitz and glamour build-up to Super Bowl XLIX (that’s a 49 to us normal folk).
It hasn’t been the easiest week for some sports journalists. By now, you’ve probably seen at least one of the stories about Seattle Seahawks star running back Marshawn Lynch and his blatant refusal to engage with the media.
If you haven’t, here’s the synopsis: Lynch doesn’t like doing media but he’s obliged to, and can be hit with a six-figure fine by the NFL if he doesn’t. To keep his hard-earned cash to himself, he’s showing up at his appointed time and answering every question with the same sentence.
On Wednesday, it was “I’m just here so I don’t get fined.”
As the half-time act for Sunday’s big game, Katy Perry had a press conference of her own on Thursday and when she was asked about potential romantic interest, she had the perfect one-liner on the tip of her tongue.
