Doyle scores first club goal in 11 months as Pardew gets off to winning start

The Irish striker helped the Eagles record a 4-0 win over Dover in the FA Cup this afternoon.

ALAN PARDEW HAD a winning start to life as Crystal Palace boss as the Premier League club claimed a comfortable 4-0 win over Conference side Dover Athletic at Crabble Athletic Ground.

Scott Dann bagged two goals in the first half before Dwight Gayle added a third on 68 minutes.

Kevin Doyle, on as half-time substitute, then grabbed his first goal for the Eagles since joining on loan from Wolves at the start of the season.

31-year-old Doyle, who has been restricted to five appearances this season due to a groin injury, finished off a good move involving Barry Bannan and Jerome Thomas with two minutes on the clock.

You have to go back as far as 16 February 2014 for his last goal in club football — although the Wexford native has bagged two for Ireland in that time.

Elsewhere in the 1pm kick-offs, QPR went down 3-0 at home to Sheffield United, with Jamal Campbell-Ryce getting a brace, while Patrick van Aanholt scored the only goal of the game in Sunderland’s 1-0 victory over Leeds at the Stadium of Light.
