We also interviewed the player everyone associated with the League of Ireland has been talking about lately, Chris Forrester (who’s playing tonight). Check it out here.

The teams have emerged from the tunnel and we’re almost ready to go here…

And we’re underway…

It’s been a scrappy enough start, with both sides giving it away cheaply at will.

TRY! - Biggar

After Shane Williams had an effort ruled out for stepping into touch, the Ospreys bounce straight back with a well work move, finished off by Dan Biggar.

Darren Meenan does well down the left wing, beating the opposition defender, but his shot can only find the side-netting.

Shortly before that incident, John Russell gave the type of crunching tackle that suggested he’s very much up for this game.

Mark McNulty comes rushing out of his goal and trips Jake Kelly in attempting to get to the ball. Luckily for the visitors’ keeper, there are several players back on the line for Cork, and he thus avoids a red card.

The subsequent free kick by Kelly is badly overhit.

Elsewhere Philip Gorman has scored to give Shelbourne the lead at the Belfield Bowl.

Chris Forrester has been up to his old tricks. He shows good feet to outfox the defender before producing a powerful shot that the goalkeeper can only gather at the second attempt.

Pat’s undoubtedly have the upper hand at the moment. They’ve dominated possession and look the far more likely side to score.

Darren Meenan shoots from the left-hand side of the box, but his tame effort is straight at the goalkeeper.

Meanwhile, Tadgh Purcell spurns a rare Cork chance, as Brendan Clarke gets down well to save his shot from the edge of the area.

As Trap might say, both sides need to be more incisive.

Another fine effort from Forrester, as his free kick from roughly 30 yards out curls narrowly wide.

Pat’s continue to knock at the door.

Jake Kelly shows Forrester that he isn’t the only player who can strike a ball well. His shot threatens to arrow into the top corner, but narrowly misses the target ultimately.

This is quickly turning into a private duel between Chris Forrester and Cork goalkeeper Mark McNulty, who is forced to parry away another powerful shot from the youngster for a corner.

Cork’s Gearoid Morrissey has just taken what is possibly the worst free-kick I have ever seen, scuffing it miles over the bar from a few yards outside the box.

Here’s a look at that crunching tackle which I was referring to earlier (see 19.53) from John Russell.

HALF-TIME: ST PAT’S 0-0 CORK CITY

It’s hardly been the most exciting half of football Richmond Park has ever seen.

Pat’s have been the slightly better side, creating more half-chances and passing the ball with greater ingenuity.

However, Cork began to look more comfortable as the half progressed, and even managed to carve out a chance or two themselves.

Consequently, both sides will believe the game remains there for the taking in the second period, and if there is one player likely to be the difference, I wouldn’t be surprised if Chris Forrester was the man – the youngster was a persistent threat in that first half.

There’s a few more goals to tell you about in tonight’s other Airtricity League games. A Jason Byrne penalty has put Bray one-up against Dundalk.

Elsewhere, Ryan McEvoy put Bohs ahead before Alan McNally responded for Drogheda.

We’re back underway…

Pat’s immediately are on attack, as they win a free-kick on the edge of the area.

However, their attempt to work the ball into a more convenient shooting position fails, and Cork clear the ball away comfortably.

Another shot from Forrester, but this time it’s catching practice for McNulty.

The goalkeeper’s subsequent kick-out goes straight to his opposite number – Cork are not doing themselves any favours by continually conceding possession so cheaply. They seem content to invite on Pat’s pressure.

And as I type, a Forrester header from a corner is deflected into McNulty’s arms, and yet again, he hammers the ball upfield to no one in particular.

Pat’s have increased the tempo noticeably in this second half, and are looking more threatening as a result.

Darren Meenan’s free-kick goes straight into the arms of McNulty. The set pieces from both sides have been conspicuously awful at times this evening.

Possibly the best chance of the game so far, and surprisingly, it falls to Cork. There’s some nice interplay from their attacks, before Vinnie O’Sullivan is played through on goal, and his snap shot goes narrowly wide.

Pat’s substitution: Sean O’Connor replaces Jake Kelly.

Cork score a header from a corner, but the referee had blown the whistle before the ball had even hit the back of the net for shoving in the box. This game is really livening up now.

Tadgh Purcell has just hit the underside of the bar with a fantastic strike from just outside box

Meanwhile, down the other end, Forrester plays through Christy Fagan, whose shot has the goalkeeper at full stretch.

And it proves to be Fagan’s last act of the game, as he’s replaced by Ian Daly.

Both sides look desperate for a winner, and consequently, they appear to be going all-out attack in equal measure.

Incredible stuff! Forrester accelerates past the last defender on the counter-attack, but his finish is deflected away for a corner by the legs of McNulty. I would have bet my house on him to score there.

PENALTY MISSED FOR CORK!

Kenny Browne takes down Tadgh Purcell for what seemed a blatant penalty.

The Cork player dusts himself down to take the ensuing spot kick, but Clarke gets down well to his left to make the save. It was quite a weak penalty though.

Pat’s substitution: Darren Meenan replaced by Jake Carroll.

This game just seems destined to end 0-0 now.

Despite almost every Pat’s player being in the opposition’s box for a free, the visitors defend it relatively comfortably and clear.

The game is being played at an incredibly frantic pace now, as the crowd urge Pat’s to somehow find a late winner.

We’re into stoppage time…

Pat’s have another corner. Last chance saloon?

Carroll’s header from the corner sails well over the bar.

FULL-TIME: ST PAT’S 0-0 CORK CITY

On reflection, it’s probably a fair result.

Pat’s arguably had more of the play, but Cork had a few chances as well, including that crucial missed penalty from Purcell.

However, the visitors will probably be going away the happier of the two teams, as given Pat’s excellent record of late, it represents a good point for Tommy Dunne’s men.

Alright, that’s it from me. Thanks for reading, and enjoy your weekends.
