Neville attacks England team spirit, FA's handling of Terry debacle

The Sky Sports pundit has also hinted that Capello should resign as England manager.

GARY NEVILLE HAS had some harsh words for the current England set-up and hinted Fabio Capello should resign.

Speaking to the Mail on Sunday, the Sky Sports pundit also claimed England haven’t had a good team spirit since the days of Terry Venables.

He said:

“Before a tournament involving England, I would always spout words about our great team spirit. At the time I believed them but in hindsight, other than under Terry Venables at Euro 96, we never had a team that stood together and a manager who stood by us.”

He also had some home truths for current manager Fabio Capello, indicating that he’s not the right man for the job:

“Why don’t we go all the way and sort out the Capello issue. I’m not abreast of the thoughts of the FA board but I would be surprised if they did not believe he was over-priced. He has barely contributed to the grass roots and legacy of the English game and he wasn’t the choice of the chairman, David Bernstein.”

The former Man United full-back also accused the FA of “bowing to media pressure” over their decision to strip John Terry of the England captaincy.
