A DISAPPOINTED JOHN O’Shea tonight admitted that the Ireland performance was not good enough, saying: “That wasn’t the way to lose a game.”
Speaking to RTE, he described the match as a “massive humiliation,” and explained that “there’s not much you can say about it”
He reflected on how things went from bad to worse in the second half, as the performance looked increasingly dispirited as the game went on.
“We gave them a hand with lots of the goals. We left ourselves very open and they took full advantage.”
O’Shea refused to single out individual errors and emphasised the importance of staying upbeat ahead of their upcoming trip to the Faroe Islands.
“You win as a team and lose as a team,” he said. “We have to dust ourselves down now.”
And despite the embarrassing nature of the loss, O’Shea tried to remain positive.
“I think the qualification is going to come against other teams.
“We’ve a job to do – we have to look forward.”
