Ready to go: Swim Ireland name team for European Championships

Both Grainne Murphy and Barry Murphy will not be competing in the event, having already qualified for the Olympics.

THE IRISH SWIMMING team for the European Championships was announced earlier today.

Seven swimmers will travel to the tournament, which is taking place in Debrecen, Hungary between May 21-28. They are Karl Burdis, Bethany Carson, Fiona Doyle, Sycerika McMahon, Nuala Murphy, Melanie Nocher and Shani Stallard.

All those involved will be looking to secure qualification for the Olympics during the event.

Absent from the list of those attending the event are Grainne Murphy and Barry Murphy, who have already achieved Olympic qualification, and have thus chosen to continue their preparation for London instead.
