Rob Heffernan opens up on the long slog that goes with being an Olympian.

LATER THIS YEAR, Rob Heffernan will become the first Irish athlete to compete in five Olympic Games when he takes part in the 50km walk in Rio.

The Cork athlete, who narrowly missed out on a medal when he finished fourth in the same event at London, is the first to appear in a series of ‘Road to Rio’ short documentaries outlining what it takes to be an Olympic athlete .
