FORMER FOOTBALL MANAGER and pundit, Ron Atkinson, has landed himself in hot water after making a racist joke on the latest edition of Celebrity Big Brother.
As Irish reality TV star, Danielle Marr, draped her jumper over her head, Atkinson implicitly compared her to a Muslim wearing a headscarf, remarking:
“You’re not carrying a bomb with you, are you?”
Atkinson, who previously lost his job as an ITV commentator for making racist remarks about then-Chelsea defender Marcel Desailly, was reprimanded for his comments, with a spokesperson for the show stating: “Ron made an unacceptable comment last night. He has received a formal warning.”
The 74-year-old has previously denied claims that he was racist, pointing out that he was the first high-profile manager to sign a considerable number of black players during his time in charge at West Brom.
