History-making Magees settle for bronze at European Championships

They take home Ireland’s first-ever medal from the tournament.

DONEGAL SIBLINGS SAM and Chloe Magee must settle that bronze is the colour of Ireland’s first-ever medal at the European badminton championships.

They were defeated by a strong Denmark pairing of Joachim Fischer Nielsen and Christinna Pedersen earlier in two games (21-14, 21-10).

The Magee siblings were on fire this week, and can be proud of their huge feat at the tournament.

“We really have to thanks everyone for the support,” Chloe told Badminton Ireland afterwards. “Ireland is definitely a country that gets behind their players, it feels like I’m back at home.”

Today’s result follows on from the duos victories over Netherlands, France and Poland respectively.
