Better way

Should schools do more to cultivate professional sportspeople from an early age?

Irish Olympian Scott Evans believes a better system could promote more talent.

IT’S A DILEMMA facing a lot of talented young sportspeople.

To make the most of their potential, they often have to park their schoolwork.

More often than not, they have to take the difficult decision to forgo a career in sports and focus on completing their Leaving Certificate instead.

But what if there was a third way?

Having moved to Denmark to train, Irish Olympian Scott Evans believes there may well be a better model that supports a child’s education and their sporting potential.
