Sheehan out, Donaghy in for Kingdom

Kieran Donaghy has been recalled to the Kerry starting XV for Sunday’s Munster SFC semi-final.

KERRY WILL BE without star midfielder Bryan Sheehan for Sunday’s Munster SFC semi-final against old rivals Cork.

The St Mary’s club man scored 0-6 in the Kingdom’s quarter-final win over Tipperary a fortnight ago but has been ruled out of the trip to Páirc Uí Chaoimh with a knee injury.

Reports earlier this week suggested that Sheehan could now face up to six weeks on the sideline, putting his fitness for the Munster final on 8 July in doubt should Kerry get there.

Seamus Scanlon’s inclusion in midfield in his place is one of four changes made by Jack O’Connor, including the return of Kieran Donaghy at full-forward. Donaghy was reportedly dropped for the quarter-finals following a disciplinary incident but his experience sees him preferred to youngster Patrick Curtin in the full-forward line.

Marc Ó Sé returns from injury to take up his usual spot at corner-back while Aidan O’Mahony slots in alongside him at full-back. Shane Enright and Daniel Bohan, both of whom played the full 70 minutes against Tipp, drop to the bench.

Kerry (SFC v Cork): Brendan Kealy; Marc Ó Sé, Aidan O’Mahony, Killian Young; Tomás Ó Sé, Eoin Brosnan, Peter Crowley; Anthony Maher, Seamus Scanlon; Paul Galvin, Declan O’Sullivan, Darran O’Sullivan; Colm Cooper (c), Kieran Donaghy, Kieran O’Leary.

PADDY O’ROURKE HAS named three Championship debutants in his Armagh side to face Tyrone in Sunday’s Ulster SFC quarter-final.

Aidan Forker, Anto Duffy and Caolan Rafferty make their bow as part of the Orchard forward lines for the anticipated sell-out clash at the Morgan Athletic Grounds.

Two-time All-Star Ronan Clarke is still recovering from an ankle injury. Clarke has not played for Armagh since the 2010 league season and, though he is back in action for his club Pearse Óg, the forward is still some way off championship levels of fitness.

Armagh (SFC v Tyrone): Philip McEvoy; Andy Mallon, Brendan Donaghy, Declan McKenna; Aaron Kernan, Ciaran McKeever, Finnian Moriarty; Kieran Toner, Malachy Mackin; Aidan Forker, Kevin Dyas, Anto Duffy; Jamie Clarke, Brian Mallon, Caolan Rafferty.
