Sherry gets Ireland call, as Best struggles
DOUBTS OVER THE fitness of Rory Best have prompted Ireland manager Declan Kidney to call up Muster’s Mike Sherry as a precautionary measure.
Best is Ireland’s only major injury concern ahead of his side’s World Cup quarter-final against Wales this Saturday.
However, despite Best suffering a shoulder injury in their recent win over Italy, the Ulster man has yet to be ruled out of the tie.
Ireland team manager Paul McNaughton told reporters:
Meanwhile, assistant coach Mark Tainton claimed that they were optimistic about Best’s chances of competing in the upcoming game, saying:
Declan Kidney will name his starting XV for the Wales game on Wednesday, which kicks off at 6am (Irish time) this Saturday.
