LOI wrap: Rovers' title hopes hang by a thread following Sligo draw

In addition, St Patrick’s Athletic secured a 1-0 away to Cork this evening.

SHAMROCK ROVERS LOOK to be out of the Airtricity League title race after only managing a 1-1 draw with Sligo Rovers at Tallaght Stadium tonight.

Mark Quigley put Sligo ahead on 32 minutes, before Ronan Finn equalised early in the second half.

However, Rovers could not add to Finn’s solitary goal, as the game ended in a stalemate, with Stephen Kenny’s men consequently remaining seven points behind Sligo, who also have a game in hand.

Meanwhile, St Patrick’s Athletic secured a hard-earned 1-0 win against Cork at Turner’s Cross this evening.

The hosts spurned a number of chances, before a Christy Fagan volley with just over 20 minutes remaining ultimately proved the difference between the two sides.
