Snooker round-up: O'Sullivan beats Ebdon, as Perry hammers Dott

The three-time champion showed his class to comprehensively beat his fellow Englishman.

THREE-TIME WORLD Snooker Championship winner Ronnie O’Sullivan secured a comfortable victory over Peter Ebdon today.

O’Sullivan had been 7-2 up after the first session, and subsequently sealed his win with breaks of 80, 68 and 54, despite his opponent claiming two frames.

Speaking following his victory, O’Sullivan told BBC Sport:

“All credit to Peter, he has had a fantastic season, won the last ranking event and is one of the hardest competitors on the circuit. He made it tough for me and I am just pleased to get the win.”

Elsewhere today, a horror show from Graeme Dott enabled his opponent, Joe Perry, to secure an 8-1 lead over the Scot.

Dott showed his frustration throughout the contest, waving sarcastically to the crowd after claiming the day’s final frame.

Perry now only needs to win two more frames to progress to the next round.

In addition, Andrew Higginson leads Stephen Lee 5-4, while Judd Trump is currently beating Dominic Dale by the same score.

Ryan Day is also beating Ding Junhui 5-4, and Mark Selby’s match with Barry Hawkins is just underway.
