The 69-year-old, who worked for BBC on Match of the Day during his 40 years as a commentator, had fallen ill recently and it was confirmed this afternoon that he has died.

As well as being known for the likes of Grandstand and Sportsnight, Gubba was also the voice of popular computer game International Superstar Soccer.
