Four new faces in Ulster side to face Glasgow
Mark Anscombe says he expects a tough encounter from a Glasgow side that have won five of their last six league games.

SEAN DOYLE, NICK Williams, Rob Herring and Michael Heaney are all set to start competitively for the first time, as Ulster play Glasgow for their opening Pro12 match on Friday.

Doyle and Williams are in the backrow, with Herring at hooker and Heaney starting at scrum-half.

Meanwhile, Tom Court makes his 100th appearance against a Glasgow side that have won five of their last six league games.

Speaking ahead of the match, Ulster coach Mark Anscombe stressed the importance of ensuring his top players were fully fit before selecting them, telling reporters:

“They have named a strong side as we expected and they will provide a formidable test. They have brought a few Internationals into the starting lineup and have another couple on the bench.

“Some of our international players are not back yet but Tommy Bowe and Stephen Ferris are building up their fitness and should be available soon.

“It is all about getting players back in condition to play matches at a high level and a high tempo.”

And Anscombe added that he was expecting a tough encounter with a Glasgow side that has looked impressive of late.

“I’m expecting a really tough battle against Glasgow, who have a new coach and a lot of new personnel.

“There are exciting things happening there too and having reached the semi-finals last season, they will have self-belief and be confident in their own ability.

“They know the kind of consistency which is required to do well in this competition.”
