4 Irish forwards named in U20 Team of the Championship

Finalists Ireland and England both had four representatives in the dream team, with only one New Zealander making the cut.

IRELAND’S RUN TO the final of the World Rugby U20 Championship final earned recognition for four forwards in the official tournament XV named yesterday.

Player of the Tournament Max Deegan took the number eight jersey in the selection, flanked by England’s George Nott and Will Evans.

Captain James Ryan took his place in the dream team too, behind a front row of Andrew Porter, Adam McBurney and Georgian tighthead Lasha Tabidze.

There was no place for any Irish back however, despite the four-win run to the final.

New Zealand’s sole representative is centre Jordie Barrett (brother of All Black, Beauden), while England’s representation is taken to four by the presence of Harry Mallinder and Joe Marchant who both scored two tries in the final win over Ireland.
