LOUGHMORE-CASTLEINEY BECAME the first Tipperary club to complete a senior championship double with victory over Aherlow in today’s county senior football final.
After claiming the hurling title last month with victory over Éire Og-Nenagh, the mid-Tipperary club made history this afternoon in Semple Stadium.
They had ten points to spare over Aherlow Gaels as they overcame the disappointment of last Sunday’s Munster club quarter-final defeat to Limerick’s Na Piarsaigh.
In the process Loughmore-Castleiney won their first Tipperary senior football crown since 2004 and avenged their final loss to today’s opponents in 2010.
