ALAN KEANE’S TIME with Dundalk has come to an end after Crusaders announced the signing of the versatile defender today.

Keane, who made over 300 appearances in 10 years during stints with Galway United and Sligo Rovers, has signed a six-month deal with the NIFL Premiership leaders.

Despite announcing his retirement from football at the end of the 2015 season, Keane was signed by Dundalk on a short-term contract back in August.

The 32-year-old went on to make eight appearances for the Lilywhites, including a start in the 2-1 win over Bohemians in October which earned them a third consecutive Premier Division title.

Keane follows in the footsteps of Daryl Horgan, Andy Boyle (both Preston North End), Ronan Finn and Darren Meenan (both Shamrock Rovers) in leaving Dundalk following the conclusion of their successful 2016 campaign.
