Alex Ferguson: 'I was offered the England job - twice'

MANCHESTER UNITED boss Sir Alex Ferguson has told a Canadian TV station he was twice asked to manage the England national team, but rebuffed the FA’s advances. He described it as a “poisoned chalice” – and reckoned he “had a tremendous handicap being Scottish”.
