Aston Villa bid for Darron Gibson after Sunderland move falls through

The player is set to move in a £3.5million deal, as he is deemed surplus to requirements at Old Trafford.

IRISH INTERNATIONAL AND Man United midfielder Darron Gibson could be set to join Aston Villa in a £3.5million deal.

The player had previously been a Sunderland target, however the deal failed to materialise, despite discussions taking place, with claims that a disagreement over the player’s wage demands was to blame for the transfer’s collapse.

The Irish player appears to have no future at Old Trafford, as other midfielders such as Tom Cleverley and Anderson have been preferred to him in the team’s opening games of the season.

Gibson had a mixed season last year, scoring in the Champions League semi final, but still failing to establish himself in the United first team.

The 23-year-old Derry-born player has 16 Ireland caps and has made 30 first-team appearances for Man United, scoring four goals.

He was also named as part of Giovanni Trapattoni’s squad to play in the Euro qualifiers afainst Slovakia and Russia, which was announced yesterday.
