Welcome to the Gaelic Grounds as we build up to this afternoon’s Munster senior hurling semi-final between Cork and Clare. Throw in is at 4pm.

Breaking team news here as there are two Clare changes from the side that defeated Waterford with Nicky O’Connell coming in at midfield instead of Seadna Morey while Padraic Collins replaces Shane O’Donnell at corner-forward.

Here’s the Cork team that’s named to start today.

The crowd is starting to build up here at the Gaelic Grounds. Neither side has yet to emerge onto the pitch for their pre-match warm-up.

Both sides have come out on to the pitch under the grey skies in the Gaelic Grounds and were greeted warmly by the respective sets of supporters. It’s been raining at times this morning in Limerick but at the moment it’s dry.

Clare have had the upper hand against Cork three times year when the sides have met in senior hurling clashes – the Waterford Crystal Cup semi-final, Division 1A of the Allianz hurling league and the Division 1 hurling league relegation final. Clare will be hoping to build on their Munster quarter-final win over Waterford in Semple Stadium in Thurles. Davy Fitzgerald is hoping to guide his team into the county’s first provincial senior decider since 2008.

Tom Kenny is gone to halfback while Chris Joyce is at midfield. Plenty positional changes on the Cork side.

Goal chance for Clare as Honan releases Padraic Collins but he is felled close to goal by Conor O’Sullivan, just outside the large square, and is shown a yellow card for the offence.

Clare 0-4 Cork 0-1: 9 mins – Clare are really starting to motor now as Darach Honan strikes a point. Cork’s defence looks shaky early on.

Clare 0-4 Cork 0-2: 10 mins – A reprieve for Cork thanks to a sublime point from the right wing by Daniel Kearney.

Clare 0-5 Cork 0-2: 10 mins – Clare are back three points in front as Honan smashes a fierce right-handed shot just over the bar.

Clare 0-5 Cork 0-3: 11 mins – At the other end Cork’s full-forward Luke O’Farrell showcases his threat with a fine point from a tight angle.

The wind is extremely strong here in the Gaelic Grounds as evidenced by the fact the Clare goalkeeper Patrick Kelly just hit the ball wide from his own puck out.

But that was a great goal chance for Cork as they had a three on one overlap with Luke O’Farrell and Stephen Moylan both free for a pass from Harnedy.

Clare 0-6 Cork 0-4: 16 mins – Conor McGrath profits from a loose pass by Cork’s Christopher Joyce to strike over a point for Clare.

A setback for Clare with the loss of John Conlon as he is replaced by Aaron Cunningham. Conlon took a heavy knock in the early stages of the game.

Clare 0-8 Cork 0-6: 22 mins – Padraic Collins edges Clare two in front with a great individual point. He worked very hard to get through the Cork defence and score under pressure.

Clare probably should be further ahead given they had the wind at their backs. Some of their shooting has been errant while they have not managed to capitalize on the goal chances that have come their way.

Clare 0-10 Cork 0-6: 28 mins – Magnificent point for Clare by Colm Galvin as he displayed tremendous acceleration to get clear of the Cork defence and finished with assurance.

That Cork point came after great work by Jamie Coughlan to win the ball after he had just come on for Stephen Moylan at corner-forward for the Rebels.
