ENGLAND’S COURTNEY LAWES has been given a two-match suspension after he was deemed to have deliberately struck his opponent with his knee.
Lawes also put in a strong tackle on Gonzalo Tiesi during the game (see below), which caused him to suffer knee ligament damage as a result, in addition to the incident involving hooker Mario Ledesma, for which he has been punished.
Lawes was cited, despite pleading not guilty, following a review by the Independent Citing Commissioner, according to RugbyWorldCup.com.
Upon review, the incident was adjudged to be Low-End, which can carry a suspension of up to three weeks, however other factors such as Lawes’ excellent disciplinary record to date were also taken into account.
The player has 48 hours to appeal the decision.
