Premature jubilation

Olympiakos won the Greek league Sunday... but may lose it again tomorrow

The famous club celebrated a 44th title yesterday but their celebrations may have been premature.

GOALS FROM MARKO Marin, Manuel Da Costa, Alberto de la Bella (2) and Chori Dominguez gave Olympiakos a 5-0 win over Giannina and put them six points clear of PAOK with just one game remaining, gifting them a seventh-straight Greek Super League title Sunday.

Or did it?

Despite the celebrations on the pitch after the game, the title could still be up for grabs as Olympiakos face a possible six-point deduction for crowd trouble after a Greek Cup semi-final first leg defeat by AEK Athens.

A hearing tomorrow will decide their final punishment.

If they are deducted six points, PAOK will go top as they have a better head-to-head record.

If they go on to match or better Olympiakos’s final result, it mean just a third league title all-time for PAOK, and a first in 32 years.

They play 1oth-placed Kerkyra next Sunday while 1th-placed Panaitolikos will host Olympiakos.
