BRIAN SHEEHAN BELIEVES Limerick will provide tough opposition for the Kingdom in their All Ireland SFC quarter-final this Sunday.
Speaking at a press call for a Kick Fada event in Croke Park yesterday, the Kerry forward said that Limerick’s difficult route to this stage of the chamionship will mean they are battle-hardened and ready for the challenge.
Limerick came through the back door, played four good games…they work really hard, they’ve improved big time and it’s going to be a very difficult game for us here next weekend.
Sheehan also alluded to the fact that Kerry haven’t had a competitive game since their Munster final victory over Cork nearly a month ago, suggesting that Limerick’s road through the qualifiers may be an advantage. “We’re four weeks idle, Limerick have four very good competitive games played.”
To prepare for games, the St Mary’s man revealed that he likes to indulge in a bit of Bob Marley and Bruce Springsteen as part of his pre-match ritual. In an interview with GAA.ie, he also named Maurice Fitzgerald and Declan O’Sullivan as the best players he has ever played with.
Sheehan, a four-time All Ireland medal winner, was at headquarters to promote the Kick Fada competition which takes place in September. The contest, organised by Bray Emmets GAA Club, sees dead ball specialists attempt to kick points through double-width posts from exceptional distances.
Last year’s winning kick was from 65metres but the overall record, held for 10 years by Kildare’s Mark Herbert, stands at 73m.
