Liam Daish's Ebbsfleet endure epic round trip for match because of 'baked beans spill'

The former Ireland man is not impressed.

FORMER IRELAND DEFENDER Liam Daish is now in charge of Blue Square Bet Premier Division side Ebbsfleet. And it sounds like a tough job.

The one-time Birmingham City skipper revealed today that his side’s 600-plus-mile trip for a game with Barrow took over 24 hours… because of a baked beans spillage on the motorway.

“I’m not full of beans at the moment,” the former Birmingham defender told BBC Radio 5 live. “It was unbelievable. We just got really snagged up in traffic. First, we got caught on the M25. Then the second jam was caused by baked beans; you couldn’t make it up.

“I live on the south coast, and I left my house at 8:30am to get to Kent to join up with the squad. We travelled through the night to get back, and I walked through my front door at about 08:30. I’ve been on the go for 24 hours.”

And the game? Ebbsfleet drew the game and remain four points from safety.
