Martin's Tour de France place confirmed

The cyclist has been rewarded for a number of strong performances this year.

DAN MARTIN WILL make his debut in the upcoming Tour de France event, after he was confirmed as part of the nine-man Garmin Barracuda team.

The Birmingham-born cyclist has been rewarded for a series of strong recent performances, finishing 13th overall in the Vuelta a EspaƱa, while winning a stage in the process.

It is the first time in two decades that Ireland have two representatives in the peloton at the Tour de France.

Martin will be joined by his first cousin, Nicolas Roche, at the event this year.
