Heineken Cup build-up: It's all about building momentum for Munster, says Simon Zebo
The Corkman is up for Paris.

SIMON ZEBO SAYS Munster travel to Paris for their Heineken Cup opener against Racing Metro, hoping to get their season up and running with an away win.

The Corkman says the Thomond Park outfit are determined to start as they mean to go on under new manager Rob Penney in European rugby’s blue riband tournament.

“It’s going to be a huge game, it’s going to be massive. Building momentum in the Heineken Cup is crucial,” he said at a press conference at Cork IT this afternoon.

“It’s something you need, especially off the back of two losses; you need the performance and the result primarily and hopefully we can come off the back of that. But a good start is crucial in the Heineken Cup and please God, if I’m picked and I’m lucky enough to be a part of it, we’l get that.”

Irish international Zebo has found himself benefitting from the arrival of Penney and the the Reds’ new open approach to games.

“It’s been going good,” he says. “There’s a lot to work on for myself personally and for the team as a whole. We’re constantly learning and constantly trying to better ourselves. The first few games have shown we’ve been brilliant at times and yet there’s just been those below par performances.

“But we’ve been taking a lot of positives because it’s come at us in such a short space of time,  this new gameplan, it’s been going on well so far and hopefully we’ll drive it on and get a result at the weekend.”
